My Story

"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style."  - Maya Angelou

The late great Maya Angelou said it best, "I want not merely to survive, but to thrive!"

I live my life on purpose, an extraordinary life of continuous learning. There are no mistakes, only more lessons. And I've learned some major lessons! Marrying young, filing for bankruptcy at twenty-one, giving up my voice in my early career and in my early relationships. Divorce and single parenthood. Successfully navigating Corporate America in a male dominated industry while being both a woman and a minority. And more recently, surviving cancer twice! On this journey, I have overcome these and so many other major Valley Victories. I am totally transparent and non-judgmental as honesty and authenticity are values that I hold dear. â€‹

As a cofounder of the "Queen Makers" giving circle, sponsored by the Chicago Foundation for Women, I along with other Black Women philanthropist give back to the community by giving grants to grass roots organizations working tirelessly to better the lives of black and brown women and girls on the Southside of Chicago.

Don't you want to thrive?
